Ruth Page Center Initiatives
The Ruth Page Center commits its resources to artistic initiatives that positively impact thousands of children and adults annually. At multiple touch points, these programs and initiatives foster and inspire change, providing access and opportunity to those traditionally underserved or marginalized. The growing list of initiatives currently includes:
Ruth Page Award
The Ruth Page Award has been given by the Ruth Page Center on behalf of the Chicago dance community since 1986. This award is a unique opportunity for the Ruth Page Center to acknowledge or help further an individual's or organization's artistic momentum. The award also continues the tradition of honoring those whose contributions to dance share Page's passion, artistry, and vision.
Ruth Page Festival of Dance at Ravinia
The genesis of the Ruth Page Festival of Dance began with Ruth’s first association with the Ravinia Opera in 1926 and continued until the last years of her life. Ms. Page ensured that dance is always a component in their summer programming. The festival presents local, national, and international dance companies in co-sponsorship with the Ravinia Festival, creating a dance focus where audiences can see different styles of dance on several stages throughout the park.
Ravinia has been a great programming partner for many years, and we are grateful for this relationship.
Ruth Page Dance Series
at Northeastern Illinois University
Co-sponsored and in conjunction with Northeastern Illinois University (ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the most ethnically diverse university in the Midwest), Ruth Page Dance Series brings dance to the Salme Harju Steinberg Fine Arts Center and Recital Hall annually. Through this partnership, it is our hope to advance and promote dance as a critical art form.
